Red Sage Welcomes New UX Content Strategist

Red Sage Communications Welcomes Chris Thurston as UX Content Strategist

We are thrilled to announce the newest addition to the Red Sage team: Chris Thurston, who joins us as our UX Content Strategist. Based in Bangor, Maine, Chris brings a unique blend of linguistic expertise, military discipline, and creative flair to our agency.

A Journey from the Marine Corps to UX Strategy

Chris’s professional journey began in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he served as a Linguist. During this time, he honed his analytical skills and deepened his understanding of communication across cultures. Following his military service, Chris pursued a career in marketing and user experience. Since then, he has leveraged his worldly background to craft a wide variety of work that resonates with diverse audiences.

A Portfolio of Impactful Work

After attending Columbia College Chicago, Chris spent three years with a Bangor marketing agency. Over time, he developed an impressive portfolio that showcases his ability to effectively blend artistic design, SEO, and marketing insight. His work spans various industries, reflecting his unique style and analytic approach.

Chris also brings extensive experience working with destination marketing organizations (DMOs), having led the design and development of key regional websites including Portland Downtown, First Light Hikes, the Bangor Culture & Arts Collective, and a full site rebuild for Madawaska Four Corners Park. He’s also played a pivotal role in marketing initiatives for Downtown Bangor and helped promote cultural tourism for the Wabanaki tribes in Maine through Four Directions Development Corporation. Additionally, he even contributed to the design of a children’s museum exhibit for Bangor’s stormwater group—showcasing his range in community-oriented projects.

Furthermore, Chris is particularly adept at developing user-centric information architecture, user flows, and content for medium to large-scale websites, ensuring that each project aligns with client goals and user needs. You can explore his projects and learn more about his methodology on his personal portfolio website.

Beyond the Desk

When he’s not crafting compelling user experiences, Chris is an avid adventurer and a creative spirit. He enjoys spending time with his dog, Forrest, and his hobbies include exploring the natural beauty of Maine through kayaking, fishing, and mushroom foraging. Additionally, as a passionate musician, Chris also unwinds by playing the guitar and practicing yoga, activities that reflect his balanced and thoughtful approach to life.

We are excited to have Chris on board and look forward to the innovative perspectives he will bring to our projects. His experienced background, especially with destination marketing organizations, and diverse interests make him a valuable asset to the Red Sage Communications team.
